I nearly always use cotton-batting, "warm-n-natural" f.ex.
But some battings are made for machine-quilting ONLY. I used it once and pinning and basting was nearly impossible!!
It is written on the plastic-bag of the batting if it's for hand- AND machine quilting or MACHINE-quilting! Watch out!
I am looking forward using wool-batting - it seems to be the softest for hand-quilting, but it's unfortunately more expensive than cotton.

I finally got around to my creased batting, it took a little longer than I had hoped.
I had my iron on cotton and steam and I steamed the batting without touching it with the iron and then I smoothed it with my hands. It worked a treat. It is so smooth now and ready to use.
Thanks for all the suggestions.
The only thing with this method is semi scorched fingers!!
Take care.

Thankyou, the fingers are fine. Yes we do suffer for our creativity don't we. It's a bit like beauty is pain, we just seem to put up with it.
