as usual i pop in a site here wanting to learn patchwork and how to get a pattrin for it so can anyone tell me step by step how to start my first work because am always dreaming to do such a beuatiful cover for my own specialy the patchwork i'v seen here it's realy make me feel crazy to jump and buy fabrics in cotton and cut it into peices but how to desighn lovely nice one , waiting for your replay. Thank u

The Australian Patchwork and Quilting Magazine has lots of patterns for bed quilts and smaller quilts. These patterns are for first quilters and experienced quilters.
If you can't get that magazine buy one of the many American ones available. Be prepared to work in inches and start with a small project.
Which country are you from, we have a member of the forum from Hungry and some from England, as well as the rest of the world.

Yasmin, do you want to make it by hand or with a sewing machine? There are books you can buy about how to do patchwork, both hand and machine pieced. Most of the mags only have instructions for machine piecing and you need to know how to adapt the instructions for cutting out the fabric accordingly if you wish to hand piece.:)

u mean to buy a mag. i thought someone could help me here step by step as first lesson , anyhow i will try to look for it in our store book, thank u for ur replay .

Yasmin, do you have any patchwork shops there? Some offer classes. You will at least need to go somewhere that has supplies such as a rotary cutter, ruler, dressmaking scissors, embroidery scissors, fabrics, threads for quilting and sewing, appropriate needles etc. If you are doing it by hand you will need quilting thread which is different to the usual thread as it is waxed. These are the sorts of things you will need to know, that's why we suggested that you buy some books or mags. It is a bit difficult to just tell you how to do it over the internet. :) Let us know how you are going.
